Phil Foden has temporarily left Englandโs Euro 2024 camp in Germany due to a โpressing family matterโ but is expected to rejoin the squad ahead of Sundayโs game.
The 24-year-old Manchester City star played in the national sideโs 0-0 draw with Slovenia last night.
An FA spokesperson said the father-of-two had โtemporarily left the England camp and returned to the UK for a pressing family matterโ.
The midfielder and his partner Rebecca Cooke are reportedly expecting their third child.
Foden is expected to rejoin the squad ahead of Sundayโs game as England returns to the Veltins Arena.
He has played in all three of Englandโs games during the tournament in Germany so far.
The result for England on Tuesday night was enough to send Gareth Southgateโs side through as winners of Group C.
Although the Three Lions have come under criticism for their performances in the tournament, they head into the knockouts in the strongest possible position.
However, Fodenโs absence could be a blow for Englandโs chances.
The footballer made his debut for Manchester City in 2017.
He has made over 200 appearances for the club and won 15 honours.
Foden made his debut for the senior England team in September 2020, and was also part of the side that competed in Euro 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
