Foden Departs England Camp, Expected Back For Next Match

Phil Foden has temporarily left England’s Euro 2024 camp in Germany due to a “pressing family matter” but is expected to rejoin the squad ahead of Sunday’s game.

The 24-year-old Manchester City star played in the national side’s 0-0 draw with Slovenia last night.

An FA spokesperson said the father-of-two had “temporarily left the England camp and returned to the UK for a pressing family matter”.

The midfielder and his partner Rebecca Cooke are reportedly expecting their third child.

Foden is expected to rejoin the squad ahead of Sunday’s game as England returns to the Veltins Arena.

He has played in all three of England’s games during the tournament in Germany so far.

The result for England on Tuesday night was enough to send Gareth Southgate’s side through as winners of Group C.

Although the Three Lions have come under criticism for their performances in the tournament, they head into the knockouts in the strongest possible position.

However, Foden’s absence could be a blow for England’s chances.

The footballer made his debut for Manchester City in 2017.

He has made over 200 appearances for the club and won 15 honours.

Foden made his debut for the senior England team in September 2020, and was also part of the side that competed in Euro 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
