Four soldiers from Myoung Barracks in the Morocco area of Shomolu, Lagos, were feared dead, while others sustained injuries after a vehicle rammed into them during their routine morning jog.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday when a Toyota vehicle carrying three young men reportedly lost control and crashed into the soldiers outside the barracks.

An eyewitness, Priscilla, who resides in the area, described how the vehicle was speeding before the crash. She stated that after the accident, the occupants of the car attempted to flee but were caught by onlookers. They were allegedly beaten, and their vehicle was vandalised.

According to her, one of the young men was stabbed during the chaos.

“The soldiers were on their routine morning jog when the speeding car ran into them. Four soldiers lost their lives, and many others sustained severe injuries. The young men inside the car tried to escape but were captured and beaten. Their vehicle was also vandalised,” she said.

The incident has caused tension in the area, with residents expressing fear over potential repercussions.

As of the time of this report, officials from the Nigerian Army and the Lagos State Police Command have yet to issue any statements regarding the incident.
