The Nasarawa State Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule has suspended the Chairman and members of the State Teachers Service Commission over an illegal recruitment of over 1000 teachers in the state.

The Governor had earlier in the year approved the recruitment of 1, 000 teachers and recently directed the payment of all their entitlements but the directive was greeted by a public outcry of non-payment.

Worried by the outcry from members of the public in the state over alleged non-payment of salaries, Governor Sule summoned a meeting of members of the TSC, Commissioner and other officials of the State Ministry of Education, on Monday, at the Government House in Lafia understand the reason for the non-payment.

During their submissions at the meeting, the Chairman and members of the Teachers Service Commission admitted to employing over one thousand teachers above the approved 1,000 making it over 2,000 without due approval.

Governor Abdullahi Sule displeased with the move suspended the Chairman and members and also ordered the setting up of a committee to investigate the illegal recruitment and submit a comprehensive report for further action.
