The Police in Abuja have arrested a Naval Personnel, Able Seaman Abdulrashid Mohammed, who was a Guard at the home of a former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ishaya Iko Ibrahim, for the murder of the son of the ex-naval Chief.

FCT Police Commissioner, Benneth Igweh said the Navy Rating had two Sundays ago, August 18, 2024, robbed Aminu Ibrahim, the son of the former CNS at Maitama, of the SUV and subsequently opened fire on him, killing him instantly.

Able Seaman Abdulrashid Mohammed who is 30 years old was arrested four days after the Police launched a Manhunt for him, at Apo Mechanic Village where he had taken the Prado Jeep to be sold and cannibalized into parts.

The Naval Rating who confessed to the dastardly killing, said he killed Aminu Ibrahim because he recognized him, having worked in their house as a guard in their residence, hence he shot at him point blank.

Unknown to the Ab able Seaman, Police detectives were tracking the SUV and waiting for him to bring out the vehicle before they pounced on him.

The FCT CP also paraded 94 of the Shi’ite suspects arrested over last Sunday’s riot in Abuja during which 2 police personnel were killed and 4 others including a woman police officer were injured.

Describing the IMN, Islamic Movement of Nigeria aka Shi’ites as a proscribed terrorist organization, CP Igweh said several dangerous weapons were recovered from them including the blood-stained Cutlasses and Knives with which they killed the police officers and inflicted severe injuries on other personnel.

CP Igweh said the IMN as a proscribed group for terrorism had no right to March or to assembly in the first place adding that they will be charged to court and vowed the command was still hunting for the sponsors of the terrorist group and other members
