Eric Chelle, the Super Eagles’ head coach, has hinted that Victor Osimhen may face punishment following his on-field confrontation with Ademola Lookman.
The incident occurred during Nigeria’s 4-0 victory against Mozambique in the Round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday night.
Both Osimhen and Lookman were seen exchanging heated words in the second half, with the Eagles already up three goals.
Osimhen then asked Chelle to be taken off and was replaced by Paul Onuachu.
The Galatasaray striker went straight into the dressing room at full time, refusing to join the celebrations with the rest of the squad.
When asked about the incident at his press conference, Chelle said: “What happened on the pitch will stay in the group.
“I don’t need to tell you what will happen, I keep that to me.”
