Former Delta state governor, Chief James Ibori has congratulated the Super Falcons of Nigeria on their 10th Women African Cup of Nations, (WAFCON) title, saying they demonstrated true resilience which Nigerians are known for.

The Nigerian ladies fought back from two goals down to defeat host country, Morocco 3-2 victory at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Saturday.

In a statement on Sunday, Ibori said through their victory, the Falcons have wiped away the tears of disappointment which Nigerians experienced when the male team, Super Eagles lost the final of the 2023 AFCON to Ivory Coast in February last year.

“Huge Congratulations to our darling team, the Super Falcons of Nigeria. Your victory at the just concluded WAFCON has lifted the soccer spirit of Nigerians all over the world. This memory will linger for years to come. You have given us a sense of pride and we owe you a lot of gratitude”.

” We salute your indomitable fighting spirit, resilience, tenacity and never give up spirit in the face of glaring defeat. Your supremacy in African football has been reaffirmed with this victory over Morocco and winning the competition for a record 10th time”.

While congratulating President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Ibori also showered encomiums on the coaching crew, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Supporters Club and all football-loving Nigerians for the support and motivation given to the players throughout the tournament.
