Members of the Bichi community, one of the five emirates dissolved by the Kano State Government, have expressed their appreciation to the judiciary and security agencies for their role in upholding constitutional principles and the rule of law amidst the crisis surrounding the new emirate council law in the state.

Nasiru Ado Bayero served as the emir of the Bichi emirate council until its dissolution on Thursday following the enactment of the new law.

In a statement jointly issued by some elders on Sunday, the emirate council commended the judiciary for its courageous interpretation of the constitution, which ensured the preservation of democratic principles and the separation of powers in Kano State. The statement expressed gratitude for the judiciary’s commitment to justice and the protection of citizens’ rights.

Additionally, the statement acknowledged the professionalism and dedication of the security agencies in maintaining peace and order in the state despite the challenges posed by recent political developments. The efforts of the security agencies were credited with enabling the people to live in peace and security.

The statement read in part, “We commend the judiciary for their courageous interpretation of the constitution, which has ensured that the principles of democracy and separation of powers are respected in Kano State. You have indeed demonstrated a strong commitment to justice and the protection of the rights of all citizens, and we are grateful for your service.

“We also appreciate the security agencies for their professionalism and dedication to maintaining peace and order in the state, despite the challenges posed by the recent political developments. Your tireless efforts have ensured that our people can live in peace and security, and we are deeply grateful for your sacrifices.

Furthermore, the statement extended appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, whom it described as a democrat committed to justice and fairness. It noted the significant progress in infrastructural and socioeconomic development witnessed by all the emirates in the past eight years, emphasizing that the decisions taken by the State Assembly and executive arms of the Kano State Government were not the fault of any of the emirs.

In conclusion, the statement thanked all stakeholders for their service and commitment to the people of Kano State and Nigerians as a whole, expressing optimism for continued collaboration in building a better future for the state and the country.
