Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele announced this on Tuesday. The Supreme Court has struck out an appeal filed by Micheal Onakoya against the decision of the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal which affirmed the judgment of the lower court that dethroned him as king and Orijeru of Igbooye land, Epe. The apex court in the suit SC//CV//969/2024 read by Justice Adamu Jauro described the appeal by Onakoya as incompetent having been filed out of time. Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has debunked reports alleging that he has been lobbying the National Assembly to tamper with the Nigeria Police Act 2020 to elongate his tenure, and year of service of personnel in the force. A prosecution witness, Mr Abubakar Madaki, on Monday told a Federal High Court in Lagos that former Gov. Ayodele Fayose did not personally make any of the financial transactions relevant to the charge before the court. Madaki gave the evidence under cross-examination in the ongoing trial of Fayose for N6.9 billion fraud and money laundering. Fayose is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
