The House of Representatives Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions is to hold a public hearing a nine  bills seeking to establish different agricultural institutions in parts of the country. One of the bill seeks to establish a Federal University of Agriculture at Ute-Okpu in Delta State to Make Comprehensive Provisions for its Due Management and Administration. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Sunday warned Nigerians against the hazardous practice of using dangerous chemicals to preserve food items. The Agency specifically emphasised on the dangers associated with dichlorvos, a chemical commonly utilised by traders to safeguard food from spoilage. The Abia State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has promised to comply with the directive of NLC and the Trade Union Congress to begin an indefinite nationwide strike on Monday. The NLC and TUC declared the strike on Friday following the Federal Government’s failure to conclude and pass into law a new National Minimum Wage Act and reverse the hike in electricity tariff to N65/kwh.
