The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has expressed deep concern over the recent flooding in Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, describing the incident as a tragedy.

The flood, which occurred on Monday in the Kogin Mata and Tudun Muntsira, Chikaji areas of Sabon Gari, was triggered by heavy rainfall.

The deluge caused significant property damage and displaced numerous residents.

In a statement by his media aide, Musa Krishi on Tuesday, Abbas sympathized with the flood victims and expressed sorrow that such a devastating event struck at a time when people are striving to sustain their livelihoods.

Abbas called “for urgent intervention to provide relief to those affected and urged residents to remain calm as the government works to alleviate their suffering.

The statement added, “Specifically, the Speaker appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency and the State Emergency Management Agency to swiftly assist the flood victims during this critical period.”

Speaker Abbas Tajudeen also advised residents of the affected and surrounding areas to take precautionary measures and follow guidance from relevant authorities regarding flood risks.

Additionally, he called for coordinated efforts to tackle the broader issue of flooding across the country.
