The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Kaduna State chapter, has suspended its warning strike.

The association disclosed this in a statement by its Chairman, Ishaku Yahaya, on Monday.

The union decided to suspend the strike due to the seriousness and commitment shown by the government through the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service, and the Commissioner for Health, which led to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.

โ€œWe resolved to suspend the five-day warning strike to give room for more negotiations and await the government to fulfill its side of the MoU,โ€ the statement added.

Yahaya said the strike, which started on July 8, 2024, to press for an improved welfare package, recorded a huge success and 100 percent compliance.

He commended the resilience, doggedness, and massive support of his members.

โ€œTherefore, the strike is hereby suspended, and you are expected to resume your normal duties on July 10, 2024.

โ€œThe State Administrative Council sincerely appreciates your massive support and resolve in making this struggle for the betterment of our welfare a huge success.

โ€œWe assure you of our readiness to represent you and to do that very well without fear or favour. Do not forget it is a suspension, meaning if the promises made are not fulfilled, we shall resume the industrial action at the appropriate time,โ€ he stressed.
