LAGOS ASSEMBLY CRISIS: Lawmakers Accuse Oluremi Tinubu As Pressure Mount On Sanwo-Olu, Meranda To Resign

Some members of the Lagos State House of Assembly are accusing the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu of being the brain behind the crisis rocking the House.

DSS operatives on Monday morning invaded the Assembly premises and sealed the offices of the speaker, Mojisola Meranda, her deputy and clerk of the House.

Credible sources also informed our correspondent that pressures are mounting on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Speaker and her deputy to resign.

The presidency allegedly believed that Sanwo-Olu bankrolled the impeachment of the former speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, a claimed the lawmakers have vehemently denied. The Governance Advisory Council (GAC), led by Prince Tajudeen Olusi it was gathered, have also vehemently rejected attempts to rope in the governor in the ensuing powerplay.

Two of the lawmakers who spoke with our correspondent said the First Lady had made it clear that she doesn’t want Meranda as Speaker even if Obasa fails to return as Speaker.

“ Yes, it is true the assembly was occupied by DSS this morning. The first lady does not want Meranda as Speaker and that is why the president is doing all these” one of them stated.
