Lagos Assembly: Everyone Knows That Tinubu Showed His Anger Over Obasa’s Removal – Otitoju

Veteran journalist, Babajide Kolade- Otitoju says President Bola Tinubu really showed his anger over the removal of Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.

Obasa who was removed as Speaker on January 13 was returned as Speaker on Monday following the intervention of party leaders in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who mandated Mojisola Meranda to resign as Speaker and revert to her former position as Deputy Speaker.

Speaking on Journalists’ Hangout, BKO as Otitoju is popularly called said Tinubu has shown that he can go to any length to defend those who are fiercely loyal to him like he did in Obasa’s case.

“I think that by and large, the leader of the party in Lagos, the leader of the party in Nigeria made it clear it was wrong for the Assembly members to have blindsided him before taking that decision.  They didn’t consult him, most likely because they felt if they told him he will not permit them to remove him”.

“They took that decision without his knowledge and he got angry and said ‘No, why did you do this without telling me? He felt this was strange and they should have let him know”.

“ There are things that the leader stands for. Some of them we cannot publicly talk about. But there are some people when fiercely loyal to him, he can go to the end of the world with them”.

“I think that his belief in Obasa is now without any shadow of a doubt. His belief in him and the fact that Obasa has been loyal to him, he felt why should they remove him without letting him know?”

“He showed his anger and everyone knows that he showed his anger and ultimately, they were pressured to take him back.  There must have been assurances that Obasa will not persecute his colleagues”.
