Lagos Schools Get Power Boost, Welbeck CEO Explains Why

Managing Director of Welbeck Electricity Distribution Limited, Mr Afolabi Aiyela, has said his company decided to embark on providing electricity to public schools in Lagos State to ensure that the students not only learn in a conducive atmosphere, but are also able to develop their innate talents to help in national development.

He stated this at the weekend during the inauguration of a 3.6KW solar inverter donated by his company to Ojota Senior Secondary School, Ojota in Lagos.

Aiyela said: “I commend Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State for his efforts in taking education to greater heights and when that is being done, organisations like ours, should come in to complement the efforts. That is the best way to get over the power challenge in this country.

“We are an independent private power company and we generate power for sale. We should not have our children learning in the dark. We are joining forces with DISCOS to light up schools in Lagos. Right now, we are working on five other schools.”
