The Organized Labour has paused its nationwide strike for five days to facilitate uninterrupted meetings with the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage.

A top labour union leader disclosed this development anonymously. Previously, labour leaders met with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and other officials. Akume confirmed that President Bola Tinubuโ€™s administration is committed to setting a minimum wage higher than N60,000. He also assured that no worker would face penalties for striking and that the tripartite committee would meet daily over the next week to finalize the new wage.

Following a scheduled meeting with the FG Tripartite Committee, Labour decided to suspend the strike, allowing government and private offices to resume normal operations.

This pause aims to ensure the tripartite committee can work towards an agreeable National Minimum Wage without further disruptions.
