As of 10 a.m. on Wednesday, chairmen and councillors elected in the October 15, 2022, local government election in Osun State resumed duties in about 14 LGA secretariats across the state.

Reports indicate that the officials, accompanied by many APC members, resumed at various local government secretariats, including Ila, Ede South, Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Boripe, Oriade, and Obokun. Others include Ejigbo, Iwo, Ayedire, and Boripe.

Former Special Adviser to the governor on education, Jamiu Olawumi, confirmed that as of 10 a.m., the chairmen and councillors had resumed in 14 local government secretariats. He also noted that no incidents of violence had been recorded.

Olawumi praised the security measures in place, mentioning the presence of the police tactical team, an armed squad of civil defence, and DSS operatives around the secretariats. However, he urged authorities to ensure that no unauthorised individuals disrupt the peace.

He also called on the governor to engage with key national figures, including the President, Chief of Staff, and the Inspector General of Police, to ensure smooth governance in the state.

“Our chairmen and councillors are ready to work with the governor, even though they are from different tiers of government,” he added.
