Nollywood Actor Hospitalised After Accidental Kick On Set

Nollywood actor Godwin Nnadiekwe has been hospitalised with internal bleeding following an unexpected kick to his chest by fellow actor Zubby Michael on set.

Nnadiekwe’s management released an official statement on Saturday evening announcing that the actor was admitted to the hospital after the unintended incident.

“We regret to inform you that Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening. He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding following an incident involving a kick on the chest during filming with his colleague Zubby Michael.

“We are committed to providing the best possible care and will ensure timely updates are shared with the public and the AGN board. We appreciate your concern and well wishes for Godwin at this time. Keep Godwin in your thoughts,” the statement read.

This update came a day after Nnadiekwe took to Instagram to recount the same incident, which he said occurred during a scene that did not require physical contact.

According to the actor, the filmmaker neither scripted nor directed the kick he received.

“This isn’t to call anyone out, but it’s a serious reminder that we need to prioritise each other’s safety on set,” he wrote in the Friday post.

“It’s caused me serious pains. Had to get medication for my chest to feel better today. I did all these by myself. No assistance!”

The actor expressed disappointment over lack of immediate medical support or safety measures on set, stressing the urgent need for structured insurance policies, first aid availability, and respect for directorial instructions in Nollywood productions.

“When we’re working without insurance policies or readily available first aid, unexpected physical actions like this, even if accidental, can have real consequences,” he said.

He expressed that all physical scenes must be intentional, rehearsed, and supervised to avoid life-threatening outcomes.

“What if something more serious had happened? Or this went south?”

The incident has triggered a wave of reactions across social media, with fans, fellow actors, and stakeholders in the industry calling for better enforcement of safety protocols and actors’ protection measures.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has not released an official statement on the incident.
