Nollywood actress Aisha Lawal has debunked an allegation making the rounds that she received a Toyota Venza as a birthday gift from socialite Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo.
The rebuttal is contained in a video she posted on TikTok.
In a viral clip, a chieftain of the union, Azeez Ajibola aka Istijabah accused MC Oluomo, a former chairman of Lagos NURTW, of lavishing the union’s funds on Nollywood female celebrities.
He further claimed that many loyal members were driven into financial hardship to satisfy their leader’s extravagant demands.
Istijabah named Aisha Lawal as one of the female celebrities at the receiving end of MC Oluomo’s generosity, claiming she is currently in possession of a Toyota Venza purchased with the union’s funds.
However, Aisha Lawal vehemently denied the allegation.
The actress said she initially thought to ignore the rumour flying around, but decided to address it to set the record straight because of her customers, fans and family.
She maintained that she has never owned or driven a Toyota Venza.
Lawal, who said she studied law for seven years, threatened to sue Istijabah over the allegation.
She said, “On the Venza matter, I, Aishat Lawal Oladunni, who owns a boutique in Ibadan according to him, have never driven a Venza.
“I have never bought a Venza, driven it or given someone. But if there is anyone that can proudly say I’ve given them a Venza, let them come forward and say it.
“I have never sold a Venza. If there’s anyone claiming to have bought a Venza that was mine, let the person step forward.”
She added, “If there is anyone claiming that when I celebrated my birthday, I got a Venza gift, let such a person please say it publicly…
“Besides, you people should put some respect on my name. A Venza is a small car compared to my present vehicle.”
She noted that she did not have a relationship with MC Oluomo that warranted receiving such a huge gift from him.
