The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has mourned the passing of Prince Malik Afegbua, describing the late Prince as a unifier and a consummate statesman who wanted the best for his people and the State.

In a statement, the governor described the passing of Prince Afegbua as a painful loss, noting that he would be sorely missed.

According to him, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Prince Malik Afegbua, a unifier and a consummate statesman who wanted the best for his people and the State.

“He was a progressive and aligned with causes that sought the best for the people. He was also upright in his dealings, staying true to his conviction.

“He was a gentleman and a respected Prince. A community leader, he was measured and insightful in his actions and exuded a peaceful demeanor typical of a blueblood that he was.

“Prince Afegbua will be remembered for commitment to excellence and a devotion to noble ideals.

“I commiserate with the Afegbua family and pray that God grants all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
