Ondo AG, Kayode Ajulo Urges Agboola Ajayi To Let Go Of Futile Legal Battle, Focus On State Development

In the wake of the Court of Appeal’s ruling affirming the legitimacy of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Owolabi Adelami, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Ondo State, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, OON, has extended heartfelt advice to the appellant and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the last gubernatorial election, Hon. Agboola Alfred Ajayi.

Speaking as a brother and friend who has shared robust connection with Ajayi, Ajulo urged him to abandon what he described as a “fruitless and endless pursuit of impossibilities.” He emphasized that, as a seasoned legal practitioner, he understands the intricacies of the court system and the near-impossibility of overturning a well-established electoral mandate.

“I may not be expected to make this call, but considering our relationship as colleagues, as lawyers, and as someone who enjoys my confidence, I must speak with all sincerity. I appeal to my brother and friend, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, to accept the reality that this legal battle is a futile endeavour. The people of Ondo State have spoken, the courts have affirmed their decision, and there is no wisdom in expending resources on a journey that leads nowhere. Instead, let us redirect our energy, resources, and intellect toward the collective development of our dear State,” Ajulo stated.

He further stressed that governance is a sacred responsibility, one that should not be distracted by endless litigation, especially when the law and the will of the people have already settled the matter. According to him, “democracy thrives not only in victory but also in the maturity to accept outcomes and contribute meaningfully to state-building.

“This is no longer about politics; it is about the future of Ondo State. That is why I speak not just as the Attorney General of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s government, but as the Attorney General of Ondo State, serving all, regardless of political differences. We must rise above personal interests and come together to move our state forward. Litigation should not become an obstacle to development, especially when the people have made their choice in a free and fair contest,” he added.

Ajulo concluded by extending an olive branch to Ajayi, calling on him to join hands with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration in advancing the progress and prosperity of Ondo State. He expressed hope that, “with unity and shared purpose, the state could reach greater heights, far beyond the bounds of political rivalry.”
