PDP Disciplinary Committee: I Won’t Serve Under Ikimi – Bode George

Chief Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the party’s former Deputy National Chairman (South West), has given reason he won’t serve in the PDP Disciplinary Committee.

While speaking on Arise Television, the elder statesman said he would never serve under Tom Ikimi.

The former military governor said he was a founding member of the PDP, saying there was no way he would have accepted to serve under Ikimi, whom he said was coming form a different political party.

“I won’t serve under him, it is not a matter of respect but a matter of policy. What am I looking for in the party. I have been in this party all along but he is coming from another party.

“It is a world of certainty; I have been around in this party all these while and I am an elder in the PDP.

“Right from the time, I told them I won’t serve under Ikimi; I am a founding member of this party since 1998.

“I have held various positions in this party and have contributed immensely. But I want to tell them to forget everything and unite the party. Let them sheath their sword and make sure that the party is repositioned.

“I will advise Atiku and Wike to calm down, and let us go back to the elders meeting and resolve all these things.”

On why he earlier urged Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu whom he initially never supported to be the presiding, Chief George said he was misquoted to say he threw his weight behind the president, saying all he said was that the president should be given a period of time before being held responsible for non-performance.

“I said Nigerians should give him may be one year before completely judging him.

“I am an engineer by profession and I can tell you that you cannot just graduate and become chief engineer, it takes a while,” he said.
