The funeral of Florence Saraki, mother of former Senate President Bukola Saraki, took place on Friday in Lagos.

The funeral service was held at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos, and was followed by a private interment.

The ceremony was attended by top dignitaries, politicians, and governors from across the country.

Sharing photos from the event on X.com on Friday, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State wrote, “Today, we were in Lagos to attend the funeral of Chief Mrs. Florence Saraki, the mother of our brother, HE Bukola Saraki.

“It was a celebration of Mama’s impactful life and legacy. Our prayer is that God will continue to grant the entire family the fortitude to bear the loss and comfort them.”

Similarly, a former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who also attended the event wrote on X.com, “I sincerely condoled with the entire Saraki family, over their loss, while urging them to carry on with the legacies of their beloved mother.

“Mama was known for being a strong disciplinarian who stood on what was right. May God Almighty who called her home, grant her eternal rest and grant the entire Saraki family, the fortitude to bear her sad, irreplaceable loss.”

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa Ondo State, and Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State were also among those in attendance.

Other notable figures include business magnates Aliko Dangote and Adedeji Adeleke, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senator Bala A. Mohammed, Labour Party’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and his wife, Ify Aniebo.

Afrobeat star, David Adeleke, also known as Davido, was also spotted at the event.
