Sixteen-year-old substitute, Rio Ngumoha scored a dramatic 100th-minute winner on his Premier League debut, securing a 3-2 victory for Liverpool against 10-man Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Monday night.
Arne Slot’s team led 2-0 with goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike, the latter coming shortly after Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon was sent off for a reckless challenge on Virgil van Dijk.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, Newcastle fought back with goals from Bruno Guimaraes and William Osula, leveling the score at 2-2.
Ngumoha, who was introduced in the 96th minute to replace Cody Gakpo, curled home a composed finish after a clever dummy by Dominik Szoboszlai from Mohamed Salah’s pass.
He thus became Liverpool’s youngest-ever goalscorer and the fourth-youngest scorer in Premier League history.
The result kept Liverpool level on points with Arsenal and Tottenham after two matches, while Newcastle remained winless.
