The nationwide protest organised by the Take-It-Back Movement and other civil society groups commenced in Lagos State on Monday, April 7, but was swiftly stopped by security forces.
The demonstrators gathered at Ikeja Underbridge in the early hours, expressing their discontent with governance and the mounting challenges facing Nigerians.
Carrying placards and chanting slogans, the protesters began marching toward the Alausa Secretariat, the hub of the Lagos State Government, to demand change.
Their advance was cut short near the Lagos State House of Assembly, where security personnel—including police and other law enforcement agencies—intervened.
Tensions rose as the authorities, citing public order and safety concerns, ordered the crowd to disperse.
Despite the protest’s peaceful intent, security forces acted decisively to prevent any disruption to daily activities in the area.
