    PSC Promotes 27 Senior Police Officers, 11 CPs Elevated To AIGs

    The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of 27 senior police officers.

    The officers include 11 Commissioners of Police, who have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police, and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police.

    The 11 Commissioners of Police promoted to Assistant Inspectors General of Police are:  Umar Nadada, Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State; Mustapha Bala, Commissioner of Police, Rivers State;  Abayomi Oladipo, Commissioner of Police, Ondo State; Taiwo Olatunde Adeleke, Commissioner of Police, SWAT, FCID, Abuja; Ibrahim Abdullahi, Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State; and  Nwonyi Emeka, Commissioner of Police, PPP, DLS, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

    Others are:  Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State;   Zubairu Abubakar, Commissioner of Police, Courses, Police Staff College, Jos;  Fom Joseph, Commissioner of Police, Homicide, FCID, Abuja;  Emuobo Ekokotu, Commissioner of Police, Admin, Airwing, Abuja; and  Garba  Yusuf, Deputy Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos.

    The 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police promoted to Commissioners of Police are:  Kayode Ojapinwa, DC, SCID, FCT; Emmanuel Ighodalo, DC, ZCID, Zone 8, Lokoja;  Bose  Akinyemi, DC, SEB, FCID Annex, Lagos;  Barayimil  Samaila, DC, DFA, Kogi State;  Martin Nwogoh, fdc, DC, DFA, Zone 2, Lagos; Shetima Mohammed, DC, SCID, Nasarawa State;  Ibrahim Gotan, DC, DFA, Zone 2, Bauchi; Rabiu Mohammed, DC, Ops, Zone 3, Yola;  Olugbenga Abimbola, DC, SCID, Ekiti State; and Adepoju Adewale, DC, Ops, Rivers State.

    Others include: Bello Yahaya, DC, Anti-Money Laundering, FCID, Abuja; Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, DC, Ops, DOO, AKPO, Bayelsa State;  Hauwa Jibrin, DC, DFA, FCT;   Abayomi Shogunle, DC, Ops, Osun State;   Mohammed Baba, DC, Ops, Akwa Ibom State; and  Ezekiel Husseini, DC, ZCID, Zone 3, Yola.

    A statement on Monday by the PSC spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, noted that the newly promoted officers were at the corporate headquarters of the commission on December 16, where they underwent both written and oral examinations.

    “The Commission Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), stated that written and oral examinations would henceforth be a prerequisite for promotions in all cadres of the Nigeria Police Force.

    “He emphasised that officers of the Nigeria Police Force must continuously strive to improve themselves and adopt global best practices, including proficiency in ICT,” the statement added.
