    Rangers Extend Leon Balogun’s Contract

Reports indicate that Leon Balogun has agreed to extend his contract with Rangers. The seasoned centre-back’s previous deal was set to expire on May 31, but it’s now understood that the Nigerian has signed a new contract, binding him to Govan until the conclusion of the next season.

Balogun expressed his desire to continue with the Light Blues after Saturday’s Scottish Cup final loss to Celtic, and his wish has been granted.

Having returned for a second stint with Rangers last summer, following Michael Beale to QPR when Beale assumed the managerial role, Balogun’s decision to remain adds a valuable experienced presence to the Gers’ defensive line. This move follows a previous two-year tenure at Ibrox under Steven Gerrard’s management, during which Beale served as the first-team coach.

According to the Scottish Sun, Balogun’s retention comes at a crucial juncture as Philippe Clement plans an overhaul of the squad. Speculation has linked Connor Goldson and captain James Tavernier with moves to Saudi Arabia, while Borna Barisic appears poised for departure in the coming weeks. Additionally, departures in other positions are anticipated as well.
