Liverpool FC has submitted its Premier League retained list following the end of the 2023-24 season, with confirmation of the departure of several senior and Academy players.

As announced last month, “Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara are set to leave the Reds upon the expiry of their contracts this summer, following eight and four years respectively with the club,” a Wednesday statement obtained from the club website read.

The club hailed Matip and Thiago’s contribution to the club’s success during their spell.

“Centre-back Matip surpassed 200 appearances during his time on Merseyside, scoring 11 goals and claiming seven honours – including Champions League and Premier League glory.

“Thiago, meanwhile, featured 98 times after his arrival from Bayern Munich in 2020, the midfielder lifting the Emirates FA Cup and FA Community Shield along the way,” the statement added.

Academy graduate Adam Lewis, who has spent the past two seasons on loan with Newport County, will also bid farewell following the end of his contract.

“The Scouser progressed all the way through the Reds’ youth ranks having first joined at U6 level and achieved his senior debut by playing the whole of the FA Cup win over Shrewsbury Town at Anfield in February 2020,” it noted.

Melkamu Frauendorf is set to depart the club this summer, with the attacking midfielder a frequent figure for the U18s and U21s and featuring twice at senior level during his four years with Liverpool.

“Frauendorf debuted under Jürgen Klopp as a substitute versus Shrewsbury in the FA Cup in January 2022 and later that year started the Carabao Cup clash with Derby County at Anfield,” read the statement.

Mateusz Musialowski will embark on a new chapter in his career, too, having made his first senior Liverpool appearance as a substitute against Sparta Prague in March.

The Poland youth international joined the club in the summer of 2020 and was a regular member of the U18s and U21s squads during the past four years.

At Academy level, Nathan Giblin, Francis Gyimah, Luke Hewitson, Niall Osborne and Cody Pennington are all set to leave the Reds following the expiry of their deals.

Meanwhile, according to the statement, contract offers have been made to senior goalkeeper Adrian – who has made 26 appearances since signing for the club in August 2019 – and Academy stoppers Jacob Poytress and Reece Trueman.

“Everyone at Liverpool FC thanks Joel, Thiago, Adam, Melkamu, Mateusz, Nathan, Francis, Luke, Niall and Cody for all their contributions and wishes them each the very best for the future,” the statement.
