Governor Chukwuma Soludo has intensified security at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex in Awka with the installation of surveillance cameras, solar-powered lighting, and other protective measures.

The state Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, in a statement on Wednesday, said the interventions were part of the administration’s commitment to strengthening security across critical government facilities.

According to him, the measures include the installation of 40 CCTV cameras for live monitoring of the secretariat, two hybrid solar-powered control rooms to ensure uninterrupted surveillance, and solar-powered lighting to enhance visibility at night and deter criminal activities.

Mefor added that perimeter security had been reinforced with barbed wire to prevent unauthorised access, while iron protectors had been mounted on doors and windows to curb illegal entry.

He further disclosed that access control measures had been implemented, including covering exposed drainage areas that previously served as illegal entry points.

To improve security coordination, the management of the secretariat’s security team has been restructured. Additionally, the access road leading to the complex has been rehabilitated to facilitate movement within the area.

“These interventions reflect the governor’s proactive approach to addressing security concerns at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat and ensuring a safe working environment for government employees,” Mefor stated.

The move underscores Soludo’s broader commitment to enhancing security infrastructure across Anambra State.
