Spyro Accuses Ubi Franklin Of Using Davido’s Name To Secure Performance Deal

Music executive, Ubi Franklin, has responded to allegations made by singer, Spyro, who accused him of using Davido’s name to secure a performance deal and failing to pay him after the event.

Spyro, in an interview that went viral on Wednesday, claimed that Ubi leveraged Davido’s name to persuade him to perform at a birthday party in Ghana.

He also alleged that Ubi did not pay him the amount promised, supposedly from Davido.

Reacting to the accusations, Ubi dismissed Spyro’s claims as misinformation and manipulation aimed at damaging his reputation.

In an Instagram live on Wednesday, Ubi countered with his own accusation, alleging that Spyro owes him a 10% commission from a car purchase he facilitated.

He explained that he had helped Spyro secure a car deal, with the agreement that Spyro would pay him a 10% commission upon completing the payment.

According to Ubi, Spyro made a 50% down payment and completed the balance in December but failed to honoir the 10% agreement.

Ubi also admitted holding on to $5,000 meant for Spyro as leverage for the ₦10.5 million owed him.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Ubi wrote, “I will not allow anyone to destroy my name. And please, it’s time you all stop trying to use David’s name to make your story sweet or get people to pay attention to your story.

“Why would I tell David’s friend who is a growing artiste that David said when I know you have direct links to him? How does this make sense?

“I don’t even understand this at all and gullible people will believe ( I have never used David to take anything from anyone ) you want to use me to start your PR for the year, it’s not me cos a lot is at stake and I won’t let you do that.

“Pay me my 10% from the car I helped you buy and told you to pay me my 10% you said I should wait till you finish paying. I know you have finished paying since December. Kindly credit me the balance cos I have 5k dollars meant for you and you have N10.5m meant for me. If we do plus and minus, you owe me 2.5million cos 5k Dollars is 8m.”
