Tinubu Deserves Second Term, Opposition Can’t Unseat Him In 2027 – Okotete

Stella Okotete, the Executive Director, Business Development at Nigeria Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed confidence that opposition parties will be unable to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

Okotete was one of the three ministerial nominees not cleared by the Senate in 2023 following security reports by the Department Of State Services (DSS). The two others not cleared are Nasir el-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna, and Danladi Abubakar, a nominee from Tabara state.

According to the former APC National Women Leader, no alliance between opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra Governor Peter Obi, can pose a significant threat to Tinubu’s re-election.

Okotete, in an interview with our correspondent, said that the APC’ has a strong leadership and grassroots support that will propel the governing party to victory in 2027.

She maintained that President Tinubu deserves a second term because he is building a legacy of sustainable development.

The Executive Director lauded President Tinubu for establishing a solid foundation that will lead to a more resilient and thriving economy in Nigeria.

She noted that by  addressing deep-seated structural issues and implementing pro-market reforms, the President is driving economic development and improving the overall quality of life for Nigerians.

“President Tinubu is building a sustainable Nigeria. We have always had a Nigeria that comes and goes because the policies are not sustainable. The policies are just policies that will drive either stomach infrastructure for some or political relevance for others. But what President Bola Tinubu is doing currently is that he’s laying a foundation that would create a more robust economy for Nigerians”.

“I can tell you, there’s no opposition to him, really. There’s really no opposition to him. I don’t know which of the candidates will come out today and reel out a policy that is better than what the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing. And we can see better power supply. Yes, we’re paying higher, but what we’re paying for power in Nigeria is still one of the cheapest when compared to other climes. So I’ll give it to him. Two years in, I’ll be one of those that would quickly champion his re-election in 2027” she said.
