President Bola Tinubu has extended warm birthday felicitations to Lagos Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on his 60th birthday, commending his stewardship and visible contributions to the advancement of Lagos.

In a congratulatory message on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu celebrated Governor Sanwo-Olu’s “steadfast commitment” to the state’s growth and development, describing him as a loyal mentee and effective implementer of Lagos’s long-term development blueprint.

“Your execution of this vision is exemplified by landmark achievements, including completing the Blue and Red Rail lines and the ongoing preparations for the Purple Line, which will serve the vital Lekki corridor,” the President said, referencing the continuation of the Lagos State Strategic Master Plan first initiated during his own governorship from 1999 to 2007.

Tinubu urged the Lagos Governor to sustain the momentum of transformative governance, especially by giving priority to key infrastructure projects.

“I urge you to sustain this trajectory by prioritising impactful projects for Lagosians, notably the long-awaited Fourth Mainland Bridge and the Freedom Way to Victoria Garden City (VGC) Road,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu, who marks a milestone six decades on Wednesday (today), began his public service career under Tinubu’s leadership and has since risen through the ranks of Lagos State’s administrative and political machinery.

His portfolio has spanned several pivotal roles including Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos State Property Development Corporation and commissioner positions across three ministries: Economic Planning and Budget; Commerce and Industry; and Establishments, Training, and Pensions.

Recognising the governor’s dedication and competence, Tinubu praised Sanwo-Olu’s leadership style and continued alignment with the core vision of making Lagos a globally competitive megacity.

“I also wish you continued good health, longevity, and many more years of invaluable service to Lagos State and Nigeria,” the President concluded.
