Over 200 people have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Munya local government area of Niger state.

The defectors cited the state governor’s developmental achievements and improving the well-being of the people in the state in the past one year as part of the reason for leaving the PDP.

The defectors were received by the Commissioner of Land and Survey, Maurice Magaji at Gunu Ward over the weekend alongside the former member of the House of Representatives representing Munya/Shiroro/Rafi Federal Constituency, Abdullahi Ricco and former House of Assembly member representing Munya, John Bahago.

Magaji, who welcomed the defectors, said that it is worthwhile that the development strides of the governor is being recognized as a means for people from outside the party to join hands with them to develop the state.

He assured the new entrants of the support of the state government, pledging that they would not be discriminated or sidelined.

The xommissioner, however, urged them to be loyal to the APC both at the ward, local government and state level and ensure that they promote the programmes and policies of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.
