The deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi has narrated how God saved her life during the collapse of Reigners Bible Church building, located along Uyo village road in December 2016.
Senator Eyakenyi who spoke on Saturday while giving vote of thanks during the wedding of her daughter Blessing and Olumuyiwa Adewumi held in Uyo, recalled that the tragic incident occurred shortly after she had left the church building.
She appreciated the immediate past governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel for being a blessing to her family, noting that he was the instrument that God used in saving her life.
She also appreciated Udom Emmanuel and his wife Martha, for the role they played in the training of her daughter, stressing that sooner had she left to pay her daughter’s fees sent by Udom Emmanuel that the church building had collapsed, killing and injuring many.
Her words, “Blessing has another father and mother, when she was growing up , that is the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and the wife. When she was doing her Masters in the US, the then Governor and the wife took Blessing from me.
“Her training throughout that period was handled by the Governor until she returned from the US. It was a great sacrifice. Since then, Governor Udom Emmanuel has always been infront to tell Blessing I was there before you. Sir, God bless you.
“I have given this testimony before, I’ll give it again today. I stand a living person today because of that sacrifice that the former Governor did. If you people remember 10th December 2016, the church collapsed.
“It was one of the school fees he paid that took me out of that church. I just a second before the church collapsed.
Where I sat, people were seriously injured seriously. But God used him. I’m alive today”.
The deputy Governor also appreciated Governor Umo Eno for accepting her as part of his team, describing him as a great visioner, and a lover of his people.
“God has used the Governor to be a great blessing to our family and to the children seated here today. I lack words to appreciate him. He knows that truly, truly I appreciate my Governor for everything, May God bless you and your wife”, She stressed.
