Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has revealed his efforts to persuade Manchester City’s midfielder Rodri to join the Spanish giants.

This comes in the wake of Toni Kroos’ retirement at the end of last season, which has left a gap in Real Madrid’s midfield.

During an interview with El Partidazo de COPE, Carvajal disclosed his attempts to convince his Spain teammate to leave the English club and return to his hometown.

“Yes, without a doubt, I tell him every day: ‘Leave Manchester, there is no sun, come to Madrid because we need you, and you are from here in Madrid,’” Carvajal said.

Despite Carvajal’s persistent efforts, Rodri remains committed to Manchester City.

“He says: ‘Yes, well, I have a contract, there are no clauses here.’ It gives me pause, it gives me delay, but it would be the signing, without a doubt. Being Spanish, in Madrid… I think it would fit perfectly,” Carvajal added.

Rodri has been a standout defensive midfielder in recent years, and his exceptional performances have made him a top contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

Since joining Manchester City, the Spaniard has secured four Premier League titles, one Champions League, and an FA Cup.
