Dr. Yunusa Tanko, spokesman of the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) on Friday says Obi’s endorsement of the Labour Party in the United Kingdom (UK) played a huge role in the overwhelming victory recorded by the party in the just concluded elections.

Shortly before the UK general election held on July 4, Peter Obi, who was the Labour Party presidential candidate on the 2023 general elections in Nigeria had wrote on his X page “Vote Labour on Thursday 4 July.”

He also congratulated the Keir Starmer, the Labour Party candidate who is now the Prime Minister and asked for his support in tackling the many challenges Nigeria is currently grappling with.

Speaking in an interview with TheScrutinyNG, Tanko said Obi has many strong supporters in the UK who trusted his judgements and follow his directions on key issues

“His endorsement of the Labour Party in UK played a huge role in the election because from information available to us, we have many Nigerians in the UK who are supporters of Peter Obi. Some of them have gotten into high-ranking level in the UK Labour Party”.

“One of our supporters almost won an election to become a Member of Parliament a time. So, quite a large number of our people are in the UK and since the endorsement of the Labour Party is coming from a man they trust and adore, Peter Obi, they readily listened and voted for the Labour Party in the election”.

“I believe this will resonate around the world especially in Nigeria as we are approaching another general elections”.
