A domestic worker of Aribemchukwu, the deceased daughter of Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, has confessed to involvement in the murder, according to a police source.

Aribemchukwu, known as Chuchu, was found dead at her Parkview Estate residence in Ikoyi, Lagos. The body was discovered outside her home on Wednesday morning, despite being killed on Tuesday night, as reported by a family source.

Three domestic workers— a house help, a security guard, and a driver— were arrested in connection with the case. The police source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, revealed that the house help admitted to the crime during questioning. “The house help did not deny what happened. She said, ‘We do am, na we do am,’ during an interrogation and everything she said tallied with the evidence on the ground,” the source disclosed.

The source explained that Aribemchukwu was murdered in her room, and her body was later moved outside to mislead investigators. “The deceased was killed in her room and then dragged outside to make it appear as though she was killed there. The blood stains were not completely cleaned, as the act occurred at night,” the source said.

The suspects also took valuables from the residence after the murder. The domestic workers were hired a week prior to the incident.

Aribemchukwu, a doctor who had recently married, was remembered fondly by those who knew her.

Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that investigations are ongoing and updates will be provided as they become available.
