The Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) CEO, Mele Kyari, and Minister of Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri, are under investigation by a Senate Ad-hoc committee for alleged economic sabotage in the Nigerian petroleum sector.
On Wednesday, the three officials testified before the committee, chaired by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele. Bamidele emphasised that the investigation would be thorough, with no exceptions for high-profile individuals.
The probe aims to assess the compliance of NNPCL’s Direct Sale and Direct Purchase agreements with the Petroleum Industry Act, focusing on transparency and accountability within the sector.
