Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), former Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Commitee Against Corruption (PACAC) says the lingering fuel scarcity coupled with hike in petrol price at a time the Dangote Refinery begins the sale of Premium Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol looks suspicious.
President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, on Tuesday presented the first sample of petrol on Tuesday during a broadcast at his refinery located in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State.
Speaking with TheScrutiny, Sagay says he will wait to see how much Dangote sells his petrol to Nigerians before determining whether the whole scarcity is arranged to make Nigerians buy fuel at any available cost.
“We have this fuel scarcity and then Dangote begins sale of petrol and people who are desperate to get fuel are buying at anything provided it is available, the whole thing looks suspicious to me”.
“It is like they are blackmailing Nigerians into accepting petrol at any price. Now fuel is rising up to N1,000 and then Dangote came on board with his petrol who has been holding on to his own petrol all along. There is some choreography in the whole thing”.
“It is odd and strange. The Dangote refinery has been ready for so long, no petrol has been sold out of it. Then we are in crisis, people are desperate, then Dangote starts selling petrol. There is some form of choregraphy which I don’t understand”.
“I just want to see how much he is going to sell his petrol. That will make me determine whether the whole thing is deliberate or just a coincidence”.
