Mr. James Huang, the chairman of Taiwan External Trade Development Council, has said that in ease of doing business, Nigeria has improved tremendously.

Huang was speaking at the closing ceremony of Taiwan Technology Day in Victoria Island, Lagos, Friday, where he noted that Nigeria and Taiwan were set to witness a significant boost in industrial cooperation.

According to Huang, this renewed commitment to collaboration which is expected to unlock fresh opportunities for economic growth, trade expansion, and industrial development, was a result of a huge improvement in the ease of doing business in Nigeria.

Huang said there is a great potential for collaboration between the two countries as there has been a huge improvement in ease of doing business in the country.

Huang, a former Taiwan External Affairs Minister, said the aim of the team which visited the Asian Industrial Park initiated by Taiwanese companies, and the Dangote Refinery, was to promote and boost the already trade relationship between both countries.

He emphasized that the cooperation would encompass a range of industries, including manufacturing, technology, and infrastructure development.

“Taiwan is the leading country in terms of information technology, and industries, and we are the most critical country when it comes to electronics, manufacturing, information technology and Artificial Intelligence, AI, because Taiwan companies produce more than 90 per cent of global computer servers and data centres. Taiwan is very strong in terms of petrochemical industries. And, so I think petrochemical industries, petrochemical products and fine chemicals are certainly areas Nigeria and Taiwan can cooperate.’’

“The trade volume is steadily growing. We import a lot of natural resources and energy-related products from Nigeria. So, I see a very bright future for better cooperation between Taiwan and Nigeria. There’s a great potential for the two countries to work with each other. So, we’ll get to see more industrial cooperation between our two countries so that we can achieve mutual benefits in a win-win situation.

“Yesterday, we visited the Asian Industrial Park. We also visited the Dangote Refinery in Lagos. The industrial park was built by the Taiwanese with an entire land area of over 500 acres. So, there’s a lot of room to accommodate Taiwanese industries that are interested in investing in Nigeria. It is also one of our missions to return to Taiwan and to tell our business community about the potential of Nigeria and encourage them to come and invest. ‘’
