President Bola Tinubu has submitted the names of seven inaugural Governing Board members of the North West Development Commission to the Senate for confirmation.

The Presidency announced this on Saturday in a statement signed by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, titled ‘President Tinubu Appoints the Governing Board of the North West Development Commission.’

The statement said this follows President Tinubu’s signing of the North West Development Commission Bill into law on 24 July, marking a crucial milestone in the establishment of the Commission.

Tinubu nominated Haruna Ginsau (Jigawa) as Chairman and Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji (Kano) as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer.

Other members include Dr. Yahaya Namahe (Sokoto), Aminu Suleiman (Kebbi), Tijani Kaura (Zamfara), Abdulkadir Usman (Kaduna), Muhammad Wudil (Kano), Shamsu Sule (Katsina), and Nasidi Ali (Jigawa).

Onanuga stated, “The nominated board members are expected to contribute their wealth of experience and expertise to the Commission’s mandate of developing the North West region.”

He noted that the NWDC would focus on driving significant growth, economic empowerment, and social development in the region.

The President further pledged his unwavering commitment to supporting the NWDC’s mission to bring sustainable development to the North West.
