A police officer from the Otuocha Area Command in Anambra East Local Government Area, Anambra State, has reportedly shot and killed a young man following an altercation at a local checkpoint.

According to eyewitnesses, the conflict began over a disagreement involving N100, during which one of the officers allegedly drew his weapon and fatally shot the young man.

A resident of Aguleri in Anambra East, who shared a graphic video of the deceased, identified the police squad involved as being led by an officer named Onyebuchi.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday, has sparked unrest in the community, with local youths staging protests in response to the killing.

While details remain unclear as to whether the dispute was over an attempted N100 bribe or a balance on an earlier payment, police authorities have confirmed the incident.

He said: “The Police Officer involved has been identified as Inspector Sani Suleiman.
