Inibehe Effiong, lawyer and counsel to the #EndBadGovernance protesters in Lagos on Monday described the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi as a comedian who is embarrassing Nigeria in the international community with his comments.
Speaking on Arise TV, Effiong said the statement by Adejobi that children above the age of seven can be charged to court and that the minors arraigned in court were acting drama is uncalled for.
“Mr. Adejobi is an entertainer. He has been entertaining Nigerians for a long time. The Force PRO is an entertainer to a large extent. Some of the comments he made on public issues, he is trying to reduce the anger in the country. In fairness to him, Nigerians are hungry and suffering, so sometimes he says these things to entertain the country and make this comic relief to reduce the anger”.
“But I am saying that is not his role. We have Basketmouth, we have other comedians,we have skitmakers to do these things. He should not take over their roles. He is supposed to be the spokesperson of the Nigerian Police but when he keeps saying things like this, that the minors are faking it and they are acting drama in the court, is he not seeing how malnourished these kids are? Can he allow his children to be in that condition? When they come out to say these ridiculous things, they are embarassing the country.”
“I am saying that the IGP should redefine the office of the Police Public Relations Officer. Is he supposed to be entertaining Nigerians when we are discussing serious issues?”
