Rufai Oseni Hails Tinubu, Condemns Ndume’s Opposition To Tax Reform Bill

Arise TV anchor, Rufai Oseni on Thursday says President Bola Tinubu deserves commendation on the controversial tax reform bill.

He however condemned the action of Senator representing Borno South senatorial district, Ali Ndume who opposed the move by the economic team of the president to explain the bill to the lawmakers.

Ndume, who cited Order 38 had opposed the move by the experts to address the senate, saying invitation of the experts to address senators was not reflected on the Order Paper for the day.

Reacting to the development, Oseni who hailed President Tinubu’s action on the bill also urged Ndume to put the interest of the nation first.

“I don’t totally support what Senator Ndume did there. If you are having an argument, a debate in the Senate and your fellow senators have brought people that will throw more light on that debate, it’s only fair to let them in”.

“You might have your rulebooks, but what were those people in there for? They were there for the interest of Nigeria to be able to make clarity. What he did is a filibuster, he wanted to filibuster the people not coming there so that they will not be able to explain about that tax bill. But he didn’t succeed”

“I condemn President Tinubu on many things but on this Tax Bill, I think he has done a good job. For me, it’s for God and country. I still condemn him on NNPC and the scam that happened there. I will condemn him for that but when he has done well on this Tax Bill, with Taiwo Oyedele, I think he has done some good work.

“If this bill needs to be reviewed, it should be reviewed. So, let’s stop playing politics in all of these. And I ask, why was it Ndume and Ningi? Let’s stop deceiving ourselves,. We want this country to move forward”.
