Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) in the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday says the body has no hand in the removal of Mudashiru Obasa, former Speaker of the House of Assembly.

Obasa, representing Agege Constituency 1 was on January 13 removed from the exalted position by 33 out of the 40 lawmakers that make up the House on grounds of alleged gross misconduct and abuse of office.

He however faulted the manner of his removal, claiming a fake mace was used and the action did not follow due process.

The removal has also caused a division in the GAC as some members have been expressing divergent views.

Speaking with TheScrutiny, Olusi who absolved the GAC of culpability in Obasa’s removal said the matter is entirely that of the Assembly and the party.

“I have heard everything. Obasa made a statement that his removal was illegal and Adefuye now made a statement that he believed that he man was correct. What Obanikoro said was that Adefuye being a member of GAC and a senior member of the party should have refrained from making any statement on the matter”.

“What Adefuye said was his personal opinion and Obanikoro’s response was also his personal opinion too. It has nothing to do with the GAC”.

“If Obasa says his removal was illegal, what is the connection of the GAC or my own with it? I am not a lawyer, a judge or a member of the Supreme Court to interpret the laws of the land. His removal has nothing to do with the GAC”.

“The current issue, at any time if it became necessary for the GAC to speak, we will speak but currently it is a matter for the House of Assembly and the party. So, that is the position for now”.
