Immediate past National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan has urged Senator Samuel Anyanwu to abide by the decision of the party hierarchy affirming Sunday Ude- Okoye as the National Secretary of the party.

The battle over the National Secretary position intensified after the South-East PDP nominated Ude-Okoye to replace Anyanwu, who left in order to contest the in the 2023 Imo State governorship election.

Despite the Court of Appeal’s ruling in December 2024 affirming Ude-Okoye as the substantive national secretary , Anyanwu resisted the decision and resumed office last month, leading to tensions within the party.

Following the decision of the Governors of the party and the Board of Trustees (BoT) where they affirmed their support for Ude- Okoye, Ologbondiyan urged Anyanwu to respect the decision in the interest of the party.

He however said Anyanwu is at liberty to approach the Supreme Court to challenge the ruling of the appellate court which favoured Ude- Okoye.

The governors and the BoT have done the right thing. The court has ruled that Ude- Okoye is the authentic national secretary and the PDP is a law-abiding party. With the court having ruled in favour of Ude- Okoye, what Anyanwu should do is to allow him to resume while he goes to prosecute his appeal in the Supreme Court”.

If he is able to win his appeal in the Supreme Court, it will be a different ball game but now, insisting that he must be in charge as National Secretary is an abuse of court process and even an insult to the integrity of the party”.
