The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has accused President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of underestimating voters in Northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Baba-Ahmed, in a statement reportedly published on his verified Facebook page on Sunday, alleged that supporters of the President believed they could win over northern voters through financial inducements despite their grievances against the administration.

He questioned what Tinubu’s supporters would tell residents of Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto, Katsina, Borno, Yobe, Kwara, Kaduna, Plateau, Kogi and Nasarawa states as political activities intensify ahead of the elections.

“Their problem is that they underestimate the people of Northern Nigeria. They believe they can buy us off and make us forget the humiliation and neglect we have experienced under Tinubu’s administration,” he said.

The PRP chairman maintained that northern voters would defend their dignity and make their voices heard, insisting that financial inducements would not necessarily erase their concerns about the government.

“We will show them that we, too, are citizens whose voices and dignity matter,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed also warned against any attempt to manipulate election results, insisting that the outcome must reflect the choices made by voters at the polls.

“If we reject the APC and Tinubu, nobody should attempt to manipulate or overturn the outcome of the election,” he said.

He challenged supporters of the President and the ruling party to prepare for the political contest ahead.

“As for those carrying the banner of Tinubu and the APC, you are welcome. Here we are, and here you are. Let the contest begin,” he added.

He concluded his statement with a prayer, saying, “May Allah deliver us from oppressors.”

The remarks come as political parties and prominent figures intensify consultations and prepare for the 2027 general elections.
