#EndBadGovernance Protesters Lead Rally In Osun Despite Rainfall, Demand Action On Hunger, Poverty, Bad Policies

On Thursday, many residents of Osogbo braved light rain to participate in the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest, expressing their frustration with the state of the economy.

The march began at Freedom Park and proceeded along MDS Road to Olaiya Junction. Despite the drizzle, protesters, carrying a large banner reading “End Bad Governance in Nigeria,” sang songs to voice their concerns about economic hardship.

Adetunji Ajala, the Osun State Coordinator for the Coalition of Concerned Nigerian Citizens, addressed the crowd, emphasizing the need for change. “Hunger, poverty, and the poor policies of this administration are affecting us all,” Ajala said. “We are not here because of political affiliations or financial incentives. This protest reflects the widespread dissatisfaction among the people.”

Ajala called for a reduction in fuel prices, stating, “The current price of N800 per litre is unacceptable. We demand that it be reduced to N180 per litre. This is not about APC or PDP; it’s about bad governance affecting everyone.”

Ajala also noted that the protest is set to continue for ten days, urging President Bola Tinubu to review current policies. “The youth, who are the most affected, deserve better. We are here to exercise our rights and demand change.”

In response to the nationwide protests, President Tinubu has urged patience with his policies and advised citizens to prevent hoodlums from exploiting the situation. The protests highlight the country’s call for reforms and the need for a constructive dialogue to address the ongoing issues.
