The wait is finally over as Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen stormed Istanbul airport today and was welcomed by a mammoth crowd.
Tutto Napoli reports that around 50,000 fans gather at the airport around midnight to greet the new signing.
Recall that Napoli and Galatasaray have finalised a deal for the 25-year-old, who will join the Turkish club on a dry loan until June 2025.
As part of the agreement, Galatasaray will fully cover Osimhen’s salary during his time in Turkey. Before the move, Osimhen’s contract with Napoli will be extended until 2027.
This transfer comes after a proposed move to Al Ahli fell through, leaving Osimhen’s future in limbo.
However, with an agreement now in place, the Nigerian forward is set to join a Galatasaray side that will deploy him alongside Mauro Icardi, who is currently recovering from injury.
The club has even adjusted its tactics to accommodate Osimhen, switching to a 3-5-2 formation that promises to be a potent attacking force in the Super Lig, per Gianluca Di Marzio.
The final steps in the transfer involve medical examinations and the formal signing of contracts, expected to be completed shortly after Osimhen arrives in Istanbul.
