The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a man caught on camera kicking a young boy in a disturbing viral video that has sparked outrage online.
The video, shared by a Facebook user, Adelere Rasaki, was posted on Thursday with a plea for help in identifying the man.
In the video, the man kicked the boy who was standing before him with such force that the child fell, hitting his head on the ground and bursting into a loud cry.
Rasaki’s caption read, “This man, Odukaye Kunle, by name is not supposed to be living among the sane. Please help repost till the long hand of the law gets to him. He resides at 16 Popoola Street, Oko Baale, Ado Odo Ota, Ogun State.”
The video quickly went viral, prompting a response from the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
In a post on X.com on Friday, Adejobi expressed his concern for the boy’s well-being and urged swift action from the Ogun State Police.
“#OgunPoliceNG #PoliceNG, take up this immediately and revert. This is sad and callous. Why?? Anger is destructive,” he wrote.
Adejobi further emphasised the need for medical attention for the child, stating, “Also confirm if the child has been accorded medical attention, assessment and treatment because of possible head injury or internal bleeding. The impact on him is much. Let’s act fast on this.”
He also urged anyone with relevant information to reach out to the Ogun State Police Command to assist in locating the suspect.
