Prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, a former Senate President David Mark, a former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, and others were in a closed-door critical meeting in Abuja on Tuesday evening.

Although the agenda of the meeting being held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, was yet to be disclosed, it comes barely 24 hours after the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) members met and endorsed the return of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as national secretary of the party.

However, there were insinuations that the ongoing consultations may be connected to the budding coalition movement to contest the 2027 general election against President Bola Tinubu.

Other PDP stalwarts present at the meeting include a former PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, ex-Governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), and Sam Egwu (Ebonyi), and Chief Tom Ikimi.

Others present include former National Organising Secretary Senator Austin Akobundu; former acting PDP national secretary, Senator Ben Obi, former PDP National Women Leader Josephine Anenih, ex-National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan, and former National Youth Leader Abdullahi Maibasira, among others.
